Kumquat Cupcakery is shutting down for this weekend! I know. It's terribly sad, but even cupcake girls need a break sometimes.
Every year my friend Emily throws a weekend long brunch/grill fest in her lovely back yard in Philadelphia. This year, I was in charge of the cupcakes.........
Since I'm only giving them out to friends, I decided to cook them the old fashioned way.............in my kitchen......it felt wholesome.
I recently got an order for Apple Cinnamon cupcakes, and was taken back a little bit. I'd almost forgotten those were on the menu! I hadn't made them since Christmas time, and for some reason had always thought of them as a winter cupcake. Turns out they are absolutely perfect for the spring! And perfect for brunch, there are apples AND brandy in them!
This is another one of my favorites, and was fresh on my mind from last weekends flea market.
With the dense chocolate cake and the light chocolate orange buttercream on top I think they will be a perfect companion to the apple cinnamon.
I think I might have over done it.......

GIRL - YOU ARE AMAZING!
Enjoy your break!
I was recommended to your blog by a friend, and I'm just blown away...your cupcakes look amazing! I remember seeing you at the Brooklyn Flea, also.
I really admire your business model, too; it's exactly what I want to do one day, but with cookies.
Looking forward to trying one of your treats!
